Alongside making my prototype in Figma, I also started to learn a new design software on my iPad called vectornator.

I want to learn Vectornator because currently, I’m using Adobe Fresco to draw vector designs, but I keep hearing how Vectornator is an easier and faster way to make vector illustrations. I wanted to see for myself whether this was true.

After downloading the Vectornator app, I suddenly found myself quite lost, not knowing where to start.

Therefore, as usual, I started to look at the available tutorials online and I found one made especially for beginners;

The complete tutorial was split into five lessons. I will now talk about some of the excise and skills that I have learnt from the first three lesson.

Lesson 1 - Get to know your workspace

When I was learning about the layout of the vectornator workspace, I was happy to see that the software has a similar layout to Abode Fresco - a design app I’m familiar with.

The left bar is where the different layers of the design are organised, while on the right is where the “tools” are, e.g. colour palette and brush tool ;

After getting familiar with the general layout of the app, it was time to learn how to use the tools.

The first tool I learnt using the tutorial was the shape tool. By selecting the desired shape from the shape tool and using drag & release, I made my first triangle;
