Having done a lot of research for my animal charity app ( Initial idea research, looking into Toucan and JouleBug, further research on the target audience and current pain points etc ), I feel like now is a good time to put the whole picture together and finalise on the features of my app.

However, when I began to put everything together, I suddenly felt a little overwhelmed as the amount of research meant I had a lot of information to work with; I wasn't sure where to begin. Therefore I decided to organise my ideas/thoughts through 3 UX excises;

  1. “Action, Competition and Impact” - I leant from the JouleBug case study how implementing action, competition and impact elements into the app function/design can encourage more user engagement and positive behavioural change. I now want to see how I can incorporate these elements into my app.
  2. “Pain Points Identification and Solution” - In my previous research, I have identified some of the pain points a user might have; in this excise, I looked at possible solutions.
  3. 3 words to best describe your app” - This is a quick excise that my teacher Paul showed us in our design sprint class. Even though it's a quick excise, I think it will be very helpful in my case to remind me to focus on the main theme since I have got so many possible ideas and app functionalities to work with.

Lastly, in the “Action, Competition and Impact” and “Pain Points Identification and Solution” excise, I started brainstorming on paper and then transferring a more complete/ formal version onto Figma. This is something I only started doing this semester, whereas previously, I just left my notes as it is on paper. Sometimes, after talking to my teacher/ classmate, I often gain new ideas, omit functions or change some aspects of my current solution. With Figma, I don't have to worry about if there is space for more notes or scribbling out notes that make the page messy. I’m also less likely to lose my notes if they are on Figma. However, the initial brainstorming is always done on paper as I find that it is the best way to let thoughts and ideas flow freely.
