In this blog, I will discuss some of the things I researched and learned in preparation for designing the slides for my investor pitch.
Teacher’s presentation
On Friday, our teacher Daniel gave the class a presentation on how to give a good presentation. Due to having a job interview that morning, I missed his class, but luckily I can still go through the slides and make some notes on the important points. Here is what I have learnt.
Making the slides
- Use logical progression- there is a problem, it negatively affects people, and my product can change that.
- two approach - layout what you intend to cover or get straight into it
- no crazy typefaces
- limit the no. of typefaces for consistency
- use subtle transitions
- short videos or Gifs can be used, but use good judgement to keep the presentation within the time limit and ensure that it adds value
- use bullet points for text
- stick to the time limit - don't make too many slides
- check spelling and content
- use appropriate slide sizes ( 16:9, 1920x1080, 1280x720)
