Our last class for IXD 302 is to” Come up with an idea for a digital product / service and design an investor pitch”. At the end of the project, we will present our pitch to the class.
When our teacher Daniel gave the project brief, the one thing he said stuck with me. He reminded us that we can always improve to make an absurd/ or even crazy idea more realistic, but if we come up with a boring idea, it's hard to improve the idea and make it more exciting.
we tried out an idea-generation excise in class. My team randomly picked out three pieces of paper from a bag full of paper notes. Each piece of paper had a word written on it, and we needed to develop an idea with the three words we picked up.
Our team got the words “boy”, “games”, and “ fantasy”. we had lots of fun coming up with potential ideas. we made a mind map from these three words - we first came up with ideas only associated with each individual word, but then we tried to combine the ideas from all three words and see if we could find an overarching idea that connects all three words together.
In the end, our team's idea was to make n VR video game where the main hero has to kill different monsters and dragons to save the princess. Although the idea is pretty generic, the catch is that to kill the dragons; the users have to do dance moves with mimics slashing and dodging movements in a real fight.
Inspired by my class excise, I decided to use a random word generator to help me brainstorm ideas. For this, I used a website called random generator.com;
I found this website really helpful because it allows you to filter the number of words, type of words ( nouns, verbs etc.) and even word size;
